I am in need of an immigration lawyer in New York City. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would use Targetlaw.com and do a search for new york immigration lawyer. With this engine you should have no problem finding an attorney. Good luck

I really need some help finding a good immigration lawyer in Jacksonville Florida…can someone please please please help???? is there ANYONE that you can recommend??

The American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA) has a “Find a Lawyer” link on the top of their web site. The link in Yak Rider’s answer shows search results for “Florida”.

Three provisos:

1. AILA membership is a necessary but not sufficient requirement for a good immigration lawyer. It is impossible to have a substantial immigration practice without access to AILA member-only resources. Nevertheless, as in any profession, there are different degrees of proficiency in the membership ranks.
2. Not all AILA Members participate in the lawyer search function of the AILA website. (I do not, but have been an AILA member for about 30 years.) If you wish to confirm that a lawyer is a member of AILA email the association at ils@aila.org . You can also use the Contact AILA page at http://www.ailalawyer.com/ContactAila.aspx?LanguageId=english with a brief description of your case and an AILA staff person will contact you within two business days to help you find an immigration lawyer.
3. Assure a fit with your needs. There are many immigration subspecialties. For example, I only represent Canadians. Depending on these needs, you may fit better with a lawyer outside your geographical area. See my FAQ question “19. Do I Need a *Local* Lawyer” at http://www.grasmick.com/morefaq.htm#DO_I_NEED_A_LOCAL .

Does this answer your question?

I have a graduate degree from US and I am on F1 OPT valid till Oct 07. I accepted offer from a software consulting firm: company A in March 07 and they filed for my H1b which got approved. They have provided me receipt number but not given a copy of approval notice. Company A has not put me on a project so far and I am not on their payroll. Now I have offer for a full time position from software company B. I am looking for a lawyer to help me with the transfer H1b and negotiate end of contract with Company A. How do I select suitable immigration lawyer? Can anyone recommend a lawyer who has actually worked on a case like this? Do you know any good lawyers that will give a free consultation and tell whether they know anything about handling a case like this before any paid consultation? Location of the lawyer within US does not matter to me.

The only way to pick an attorney is to meet with a few, and base your choice off who you feel the best about.

The woman we used was great, shes in New Orleans. Msg, if you want to talk to her.

Paperback, Legal US Immigration: Truth, Fraud and the American Way

Immigration is hot, but most Americans are cold on how foreign citizens legally immigrate. This important book by an immigration lawyer details through examples the most popular legal routes. It also blows the whistle on pervasive legal U.S. Immigration fraud.

Is there anywhere I can look up different charges for lawyers, such as an immigration lawyer?

Let’s say you for example want a divorce, but still want to continue with the immigration paper work, but ALONE (without the spouse’s name).

Does usually lawyers offer payment plans?

Thanks!

Cost me 3500 retainer. After than was used up it was 150.00 er hour.

Thanks to those who answered my previous question but I am looking for help getting into AUSTRALIA and those offered seemed to focus on getting into the USA. So here it is again:

Does anybody have information on good immigration lawyers which would be able to aid in the submission and processing of two individual applications for immigration into Australia? Just contacting someone found on the internet is a bit disconcerning when relocating to Australia is a dream of ours. My preference is East coast near a major city (employment reasons of course). Any insight into good, reputable immagration lawyers would be much appreciated.

Well unless you’re in Australia you wouldn’t be looking at an Australian lawyer. Just the usual immigration one in the country you’re in. You wouldn’t need Immigration lawyer unless you had trouble understanding the terminology used in the paperwork for the visas.

Your preference on where to live does not matter unless you’re after a regional visa (which are usually easier to get). If you’re after the normal work or immigrant one then it won’t matter.
