I am in need of an immigration lawyer in New York City. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I would use Targetlaw.com and do a search for new york immigration lawyer. With this engine you should have no problem finding an attorney. Good luck

Having worked with a male Barrister and watched him in Court I would say women, they can argue a point better for one thing and seem to have better memories for facts.

I really need some help finding a good immigration lawyer in Jacksonville Florida…can someone please please please help???? is there ANYONE that you can recommend??

The American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA) has a “Find a Lawyer” link on the top of their web site. The link in Yak Rider’s answer shows search results for “Florida”.

Three provisos:

1. AILA membership is a necessary but not sufficient requirement for a good immigration lawyer. It is impossible to have a substantial immigration practice without access to AILA member-only resources. Nevertheless, as in any profession, there are different degrees of proficiency in the membership ranks.
2. Not all AILA Members participate in the lawyer search function of the AILA website. (I do not, but have been an AILA member for about 30 years.) If you wish to confirm that a lawyer is a member of AILA email the association at ils@aila.org . You can also use the Contact AILA page at http://www.ailalawyer.com/ContactAila.aspx?LanguageId=english with a brief description of your case and an AILA staff person will contact you within two business days to help you find an immigration lawyer.
3. Assure a fit with your needs. There are many immigration subspecialties. For example, I only represent Canadians. Depending on these needs, you may fit better with a lawyer outside your geographical area. See my FAQ question “19. Do I Need a *Local* Lawyer” at http://www.grasmick.com/morefaq.htm#DO_I_NEED_A_LOCAL .

The hidden secret of politics.

The largest special interest group in america are the trial lawyers.

trial lawyers gave 236 million dollars in campaign contributions in 2008.

80% of that money went to members of the Democratic Party.

Trial lawyers, gave more campaign money, than the next 10 largest special interest groups combined.

Compare :

Big Oil - 23 million 60% republican , 40% democrat
Drug Companies - 26 million 55% republican . 45% democrat
Insurance industry - 25 million 51% democrat, 49% republican.

But you have liberals, who go oh no, the insurance industry gave republicans 12 million dollars last year.

And completely forget about the 200 million trial lawyers gave democrats.

The link below, list all major industries and how much and to who they donated campaign money to.

I have a graduate degree from US and I am on F1 OPT valid till Oct 07. I accepted offer from a software consulting firm: company A in March 07 and they filed for my H1b which got approved. They have provided me receipt number but not given a copy of approval notice. Company A has not put me on a project so far and I am not on their payroll. Now I have offer for a full time position from software company B. I am looking for a lawyer to help me with the transfer H1b and negotiate end of contract with Company A. How do I select suitable immigration lawyer? Can anyone recommend a lawyer who has actually worked on a case like this? Do you know any good lawyers that will give a free consultation and tell whether they know anything about handling a case like this before any paid consultation? Location of the lawyer within US does not matter to me.

The only way to pick an attorney is to meet with a few, and base your choice off who you feel the best about.

The woman we used was great, shes in New Orleans. Msg, if you want to talk to her.

Paperback, The Man to See: Edward Bennett Williams Ultimate Insider; Legendary Trial Lawyer

Legendary attorney Edward Bennet Williams was arguably the best trial lawyer ever to practice. Now, for the first time, best-selling author Evan Thomas takes us into the courtrooms of William s greatest performances as he defends Godfather Frank Costello, Jimmy Hoffa, Frank Sinatra, The Washington Post, and others, as well as behind the scenes where the witnesses are coached, the traps set, and the deals cut. In addition to being a lawyer of unprecedented influence, Williams was also an important Washington insider, privy to the secrets of America s most powerful men. Thomas tells the truth behind the stories that made Williams one of the most talked about public figures of his time, including Williams role in the publication of the Pentagon Papers and the possibility that Williams may have been Watergate s Deep Throat. Based on Thomas s exclusive access to Williams s papers, The Man to See is an unprecedented look at the strategies and influence of this exceptional man.

Howard Dean said the reason there was no tort reform in the ObamaCare bill was because they were afraid to anger the trial lawyers who drive up medical costs with endless lawsuits against doctors, hospitals, device makers, drug makers, etc.

This was a amazing. A Democrat told the truth for once… Amazing. Howard Dean basically stated why their is no Tort Reform which will save 60 to 200 billion dollars yet its not in the bill. Maybe its because the lawyers have teh democrat party bought off? Or maybe because Obummer was a lawyer.
